Recap: Games 6 & 10

AP - Interbay, WA
The Fog were forced to resume a suspended game, one where they were leading 25-12 in the bottom of the fourth. The game was suspended when the lights turned off before the game could become official. In fact the lights went out while a ball was in flight from the outfield to home causing Boyd to bolt for the dugout - very comedic if you were there.
Highlights: The Fog had modified BP as the opposing team had only 8 players, thus three infielders and three outfielders. It's amazing we only scored 25 runs. The game was resumed last Wednesday, with the same score and runners on 2nd and 3rd in the bottom of the fourth. Joe held them a bay and the Fog scored a couple of more runs in the top of the 5th and got three outs for the 12 run rule.
Then the wait. Shane went to Albertsons and purchased Coors Light and many bags of chips and the Fog annual picnic was in full swing. We learned the differences between Montreal and the rest of Canada, the shortest expressions in the English language - arn, 'arn, and much much more.
Finally game time for the last regular season game. If the Dubliners win by more than 2 runs, they are the #2 seed, if the Fog win we are the #2 seed - plenty to play for. The Fog dug a quick hole, allowing 9 runs in the second but battled back to take a 4 run lead into the 7th, we again a huge inning was surrendered and we lost - lost the game by 5 and the #2 seed. Of our three losses, two were in the 7th.
The Fog enter the playoffs as the #3 seed and face the #6 seed Mortgage Brokers at 6pm on Monday at Interbay.

Recap: Games 7 & 8

AP - Maple Wood, Seattle, WA
The Fog looked to avenge their only lose of the year when the took the field against Excitable Boys. It was a back and forth game that saw the score tied at 10 after two innings. The Fog scored 3 in the top of the 4th and the Boys followed suit, tying the game at 13.
The Fog were able to finally pull away in the 5th and 6th innings, taking a 15 to 13 lead in to the top of the seventh, where they added another 3 to make it 18 to 13 and needing only 3 outs. Those three outs would be problematic. The lead off hitter reached via error, Nate was nutmegged at first, and the Boys proceeded to reach base safely there after, scoring 5 times before the first out was recorded, and winning the game on their next hit. Just like that a 5 run lead was turned into a 1 run loss.
No time to reflect, the Fog walked across the well manicured outfield to the other field and took on No Fly Zone. Fresh from a game in which 17 runs weren't enough, the Fog ensured victory by scoring 26. Joe pitched another 7 innings on his rubber arm and only allowed 16.
Highlights from the second game:
* In the 4th and 5th innings, Boyd hit two of the hardest balls in his life - getting a single and a triple
* With the bases loaded, Daunte hit a grounder to first, a rushed throw went out of play and somehow the Fog scored 3 and were negotiating for Daunte to score as well. All the No Fly Zone could say was - someone has to be out, right?
