Recap: Games 7 & 8
AP - Maple Wood, Seattle, WA
The Fog looked to avenge their only lose of the year when the took the field against Excitable Boys. It was a back and forth game that saw the score tied at 10 after two innings. The Fog scored 3 in the top of the 4th and the Boys followed suit, tying the game at 13.
The Fog were able to finally pull away in the 5th and 6th innings, taking a 15 to 13 lead in to the top of the seventh, where they added another 3 to make it 18 to 13 and needing only 3 outs. Those three outs would be problematic. The lead off hitter reached via error, Nate was nutmegged at first, and the Boys proceeded to reach base safely there after, scoring 5 times before the first out was recorded, and winning the game on their next hit. Just like that a 5 run lead was turned into a 1 run loss.
No time to reflect, the Fog walked across the well manicured outfield to the other field and took on No Fly Zone. Fresh from a game in which 17 runs weren't enough, the Fog ensured victory by scoring 26. Joe pitched another 7 innings on his rubber arm and only allowed 16.
Highlights from the second game:
* In the 4th and 5th innings, Boyd hit two of the hardest balls in his life - getting a single and a triple
* With the bases loaded, Daunte hit a grounder to first, a rushed throw went out of play and somehow the Fog scored 3 and were negotiating for Daunte to score as well. All the No Fly Zone could say was - someone has to be out, right?
